Capital Vacations Myrtle Beach shares insights into a few wonderful things to do in the Great Smoky Mountains In Summers

Summers are the peak visitors’ season at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There are a number of wonderful things to do and places to explore at the park during this time. During the summers, people especially must:

Cool off at a swimming hole: There is nothing more wonderful to do in the summers than to go for a nice, refreshing swim. Even on the hottest days of the summer, the rivers and streams at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park stay at a comfortable temperature, as they are fed by nearby springs. While a number of waterways present at the park are too shallow for swimming, one can find many swimming holes here that are ideal for taking a refreshing dip. The most popular swimming spots at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are the Sinks, the Wye and the Midnight Hole. By doing a bit of walking, one may also find their own, private swimming hole at the mountains. The Middle Prong Trail in Tremont, Little River Trail in Elkmont and Greenbrier Entrance Road area especially feature many smaller swimming holes where one can enjoy in privacy. They simply need to get a good parking spot nearby, and then wade into the cool mountain water.

Experience whitewater rafting: Even though it is technically not inside the national park, there are a number of whitewater rafting outfitters located just outside of Smoky Mountains National Park. Summers are among the best times to go for whitewater rafting here, as there tend to be regularly scheduled dam releases on the Little Pigeon River. This popular whitewater destination is known to have 12 total Class III and Class IV rapids. The Upper Pigeon River is perfect for people trying out whitewater rafting for the first time or who want to enjoy the activity with their kids.   Booking a tour of the Lower Pigeon River would however be a better idea for people desiring a bit more thrill.

See Beautiful Waterfalls: Great Smoky Mountains National Park is home to a number of stunning waterfalls. The cool mist from the falls and naturally shady locations create an ideal setting for relaxing and cooling off on hot summer days. Some popular summer waterfall hikes in the national park include Abrams Falls Trail, Middle Prong Trail, Ramsey Cascades Trail, Spruce Flats Falls and Laurel Falls Trail.

Planning a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with Capital Vacations Myrtle Beach in the summers, and trying out the activities mentioned above would be a great way to spend the holidays.
